Our first annual Katie Oppo Research Fund Concert was held at the Munsey Park Auditorium in January. The event was a great success thanks to the bands NTOR and The Founders as well as the awesome turnout of enthusiastic supporters of all ages for an evening of eclectic live music including pop, funk and rock ‘n’ roll. The concert raised over $7,000 generated from ticket sales, raffles, silent auction and refreshments. During the Concert a beautiful montage of pictures of Katie played behind the bands. Performances also included Katie’s brothers Andrew and Daniel Oppo and other friends and neighbors! Team Katie would like to thank everyone who made this event such a huge success!
The First Annual Katie Oppo Memorial Walk/Run held in July was a huge success! Donations prior to the walk were $15,000. By the end of the walk, total proceeds were up to $45,000! Money was raised through donations the day of the event, as well as proceeds from the silent auction and bracelet, magnet, and t-shirt sales. Team Katie’s goal and predictions of the amount of money that would be raised were easily exceeded. This was all made possible by the over 400 participants that took part in the walk! This was only the number of people who “sign-in” at the tents, so this number is clearly an underestimate which makes it that much more impressive.
